Plagiarism and AI Use Policy

The International Journal of Kashmir Studies (IJKS) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism and all forms of academic misconduct. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and must properly acknowledge all sources, quotations, ideas, data, and other material taken from existing works. Plagiarism includes presenting another person’s work or ideas as one’s own, substantial unattributed copying, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, and inappropriate reuse of previously published material. Manuscripts may be checked using appropriate plagiarism-detection tools during the editorial or review process. Where significant plagiarism or other academic misconduct is identified, the manuscript may be rejected and appropriate action may be taken in accordance with accepted publication ethics.

The journal permits the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted tools for limited purposes such as language improvement, grammar correction, formatting, or other supportive tasks. AI tools must not be used to fabricate or manipulate data, generate false references, create misleading content, or replace the author’s intellectual contribution and responsibility. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of their manuscripts.

Where AI tools have been used substantially in preparing or developing the manuscript, authors should provide an appropriate disclosure explaining the nature and purpose of such use. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or credited with authorship. The journal reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use and may take appropriate action where undisclosed or inappropriate use of AI compromises the originality or integrity of the manuscript.
